About Book:
We are pleased to bring out third revised edition of “Mechatronics” for engineering and technology students. This book is written to serve the needs of under graduate students embarking introductory course in Mechatronics. This book is designed to meet the requirement of revised syllabus prescribed by the Anna University-Chennai, Trichy and Tirunelveli for 7th semester Mechanical and Production engineering students of its affiliated colleges.
This book consists of 5 units.
- Unit I Is an introduction to mechatronics systems. It also deals with different types of sensors and transducers with simple illustrations and examples.
- Unit 2 Is concerned with actuating systems, covering pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical actuating systems. Control of engineering systems using pneumatic and hydraulic circuits are explained. Further, underlying principle involving control of the electrical motor is outlined.
- Unit 3 Addresses the representation of various systems and their knowledge. Block diagrams representation, transfer function are covered in this unit. It also deals with controllers, their operation and implementation.
- Unit 4 Provides introduction to programmable logic controller, basic structure of PLCs, input and output devices, ladder programming and practical examples.
- Unit 5 illustrates design of mechatronic systems and case studies.
Important solved problems and past examination Anna University question papers solved problems have been added in each unit which will enable the students to score high marks in the University examinations. In addition to this, two mark questions and answers are added at the tail end of each unit.
