PREFACE

lt is indeed a great pleasure and proud privilege for me to present this treatise on Design
of Transmission Systems’, to the immediate benefit of Mechanical engineering students who
are taking Anna University Examinations. This book is written in tune with the latest syllabus
of Anna University and have taken the syllabus as a guide Jor the organization of his hook
Engineering studenis require a treatment of Design of Transmission Systems embracing
principles, practice and problem solving. This text meets all three needs in a way that both
students and teachers will find very useful. The exhaustive coverage of the subject is fully
supported by self-explanatory diagrams, worked examples, and exercise problems, These
help to clarify the text and consolidate earning. The special feature of the text is, all the
design procedures are written based on the Design Data Book formulas and tables. Each
chapter has been written as a self-contained unit enabling this book to he used as self-study
manual
