PREFACE TO THE REVISED EDITION

First the authors thank the students and teachers of the subject for their overwhelming response to the first edition of the book. Due to recent changes in the syllabus of Anna University, it becomes essential to revise this book. Therefore, this edition is thoroughly revised and enlarged so as to meet the requirements of the students to a larger extent.

In the present edition, apart from rewriting some of the previous sections, several new sections have been added in almost all the chapters; chapters on Quality Circles’and ‘Case Studies on TQM Implementation’ have been added newly: the concepts of Leadership, Employee Involvement, and Performance Measures are presented under separate chapters: and the elements/clauses of I50 9000:2008 are updated. Also previous years question papers of Anna University are solved and those questions/problems are incorporated at appropriate sections of the text

With all these modifications, we hope that this book will serve the requirements of the students and fellow teachers. Any suggestions will be gracefully accepted
